Kobada's Katie Supreme

Deceased October 29, 2007 at 4.30 am

We know there will be many people out there who knew Katie well and will appreciate receiving this news.

Our dear wonderful Kobada's Katie Supreme was dam of Kobada's Jacq of Times, Ballalaba's Evening Genius, Ballalaba's Wild Guy and more.

She was in her 20s, given to us by our wonderful friend, Penny Lockwood, and had to be put to sleep on Monday October 29 at 4.30am.

Our caring vet worked very hard to save Katie and save her foal but unfortunately the foal was severely breech with all his legs tucked very forward making it impossible to deliver him as our vet and Andrew were unable to find his hooves.

We comforted and massaged Katie to the end when our vet gently put her to sleep.

Katie's baby, a beautiful palomino colt, did not survive the ordeal.

We are so sad - she was a wonderful mare and lived her final years very close to our family - always being close to our home wandering into our garden and was allowed to freely wander up and down our private road looking over the fence talking to all the horses.  She loved that.

This is so sad - Elke, our talented young horse friend, also became fond of Katie.  Elke trimmed Katie's hooves.

Katie was so well, in magnificent condition for a mare of her age, her coat was glistening (you can see her photos on the website).

We are still shedding tears for our dear kind Katie.  She so loved her foals, she was a wonderful mother and she would have loved, (what would have been her last foal before retirement), her palomino colt.

A burial ceremony was held at The Elms for our glorious Katie and her baby boy.

R.I.P. Katie!
